What Is An RSS Feed

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”, and helps in creating and providing links of any content on your website, if you opt for RSS. This is a good method to spread and promote your website and its content on the Internet.

RSS is mostly seen on any news related sites and blogs however it’s not limited to such sites only. RSS can be activated on almost any site that has some information of interest to surfers. The link saved in a viewer’s PC is updated soon after the site owner updates the information. A program doing regular checks for any change in the content is responsible for this.

There is some confusion on RSS search to be a blog search. Although almost all blogs have the RSS feeds option not necessarily all the blogs have it. Another fact about RSS is that it can be activated on any website with certain simple programming. With the help of XML, RSS organizes and standardizes contents of the website.

Several sites provide easy to follow guides on creating RSS feed. In addition to this, there is a code given in these sites that needs to be pasted to your website for enabling RSS.

Three details are required for creating an item in the RSS file and they are the Title, Description and the Link.

It is used for better search engine rankings). The title or description for the item can be inserted that best describes the content.
